You may have wondered how your business will handle COVID-19 long term but, at the same time, what inventory you’ll be stuck with once the pandemic finally ends (leftover masks, thermometers, etc.). You may also seek solutions to detect elevated temperature and/or an alternative to having dedicated employees screening at your entrances in order to reduce person-to-person contact.

The good news is that there is one solution to solve all of these dilemmas. Non-invasive thermal imaging cameras provide fast, accurate, and zero-contact mass screenings for elevated temperatures. The better news is that they integrate with your existing business security systems!

Key Takeaways

  • Minimize contact – zero-contact screenings
  • Maximize time and flow of incoming traffic
  • Reduce congestion in busy facilities (airports, hospitals, college campuses, malls, etc.)
  • Keep in place long term for recurring flu season or other needs plus other uses such as automated traffic counting
  • Protect and increase the safety of your staff as well as your customers, visitors, patients or students
  • Results are consistent with thermometer readings
  • When a high body temperature is detected by thermal imaging, an additional medical consultation or test should follow to confirm
  • Thermography is a tried and true technology that has been around for over half a century
  • Reduces waste from disposable thermometers, thermometer covers or thermometer wipes
  • FDA and CDC guidelines have all been met

Elevated Body Temperature Detection Systems (EBTDS)

Our Elevated Body Temperature Detection Systems are highly accurate (+/- 0.6°F accuracy) with self-calibrating HSRP (Heat Source Reference Point/Blackbody) which is recommended by the FDA. HSRPs keep the thermal camera devices accurate despite HVAC systems and changing ambient room temperature conditions. Our systems meet the current FDA & CDC guidelines, and are NDAA Compliant (National Defense Authorization Act).

About Thermal Imaging Cameras

We use an Elevated Body Temperature Detection System that provides fast, accurate mass screening for elevated temperatures. The system is non-invasive, zero-contact and fast. If a temperature is detected over the threshold allowed, an alert will be sent to the appropriate person. The system also allows clients to create custom messages to instruct the person with a high temp what to do.

How it Works

1. Thermal Imaging

Our highly accurate thermal camera detects, measures, and quantifies multiple points on the face near the eye that constantly emit infrared energy. This area most closely correlates with the basal body temperature, so those being screened will need to face the camera, pull down their mask for a couple of seconds and can be on their way, all without ever having to stop walking!

2. Accurate & Fast Readings

Our artificial intelligence-based system can detect multiple points on the face near the eye that constantly emit infrared energy, ignore hot spots from lights or other electronics and can make necessary adjustments to improve accuracy.

3. Elevated Temperature Detection

When a person who passes into the screen is emitting energy at or above the pre-configured threshold temperature, an alarm is triggered and a notification is sent to whomever you designate.

*This system is not a diagnostic tool and is only intended to detect elevated temperatures that may be a fever and does not diagnose any virus or disease.

4. Alert Management System

Alerts are communicated via a password-protected web application, secure mobile app or video management system. Our alert management system allows you to easily view and manage your data in a central location.

We're Here to Help

Our security experts work with you to optimize traffic flow and create protocols to fit the unique needs of your business. Additionally, our highly-trained Security Officers can help enforce company protocols such as directing visitors/staff to a waiting area if they trigger a temperature alarm, administer screening questions, assist in handing out PPE and enforcing sanitizing procedures.

In addition to offering new security services, Per Mar has also adapted to the changing landscape by offering free, virtual security consultations for homes and businesses as well as socially distanced, in-person security consultations. Contact us for more information!

*Medical Disclaimer

The system measures for elevated temperature with the use of a thermal camera. Fever is a symptom of SARS, Ebola, Coronavirus/COVID-19, and many other diseases. This system is not a diagnostic tool. A medical-grade thermometer and healthcare specialist should be consulted for medical diagnosis. The system can only detect elevated temperatures that may be a fever and does not diagnose any virus or disease.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention advises that fever, shortness of breath, and cough are symptoms of COVID-19. The system can be designed to rapidly, safely, without contact, scan large volumes of people for a certain threshold temperature as a monitoring event, which is determined by the owner. This system is part of a two-step screening, where the second step is a medical-grade thermometer. If there is an elevated body temperature found and confirmed, the additional inquiry is recommended as to why. Elevated human body temperature is not a definitive marker of viral infection and just a possible symptom where additional medical advice should be sought. Furthermore, non-febrile people can also be carriers of contagious disease, so even those without elevated temperatures are not necessarily without the disease. Always consult your physician for personalized medical advice. It’s out of an abundance of caution that the Elevated Human Temperature Detection System is recommended as part of a holistic approach to public safety. The system can only detect a high temperature and does not diagnose any virus or disease. This system is not approved or cleared by the FDA. Temperature measurements from the system should not be solely or primarily relied upon to diagnose or exclude a diagnosis of COVID-19, or any other disease.
